Take five and set it right
|
To straight-up people in the construction trade:
Did
you ever see something that was just plain wrong, and you couldn’t do
anything about it? Make your blood boil? Or did you just feel helpless,
and forget about it?
What about the new kid on the block,
getting picked on by a guy you knew you could whip? Did you step in? Or
did you, at least, show the kid a couple of moves so he could defend
himself?
Same thing’s going on in our business. There are lots
of people walking into the buzz saw of a bad client, architect,
engineer, inspector, bureaucrat, supplier that you know about, and
somebody’s going to have to deal with that person, and you know about
them, but you can’t be everywhere, can’t see every deal, can’t be
looking over shoulders to help out.
What if you were that person walking into the buzz saw? Wouldn’t you want to know?
Sure you would.
So, what can you do?
Take five minutes and set it right.

might hear just what you need to get your job right, save a ton of
grief by knowing others’ experience.
The
business needs to be trued up…not ruined, not poisoned…trued up, and it
has to be the people in the trenches that do it. That means us, the
people in the business.
Don’t leave it to the bureaucrats, they’ll only screw it up.
