Permit Process
Posted On 01/25/2008 08:06:38

I ALSO POSTED THIS IN THE MASS CONTRACTOR FORUM

Permit Process

I wanted to know how other contactors feel about the application process to obtain a permit in mass. it is amazing the differences from town to town.

The towns post the hours of operations and you go to pick up the app and they are not in the office. Some have them on line and then others don't. Just wanted to see how others feel.

thanks Debby

Marketing
Posted On 01/10/2008 09:35:58

I was wondering what people have found to be the best way to market themselves.

My backgraund was in customer service for 15 years (I worked for Blue Cross as a physician service rep)

My husband has been a construction supervisor for 25 years and when we decided to start our own business the workload was never ending. Now things have dried up. I am trying to stay positive and market us as best I can. I have done mailings to target high end home owners and direct mailing thank you cards to past clients.

I have used craigslist.com and there are just too many contractors or HANDYMEN posting.

Any suggestions? PS the comments on my last blogg were wonderful. Thank you for the support.

Getting an answer
Posted On 01/09/2008 09:58:14
Hi all. I have never blogged before so be patient with me.  I wanted to know how other contractors deal with one issue. Mainly, you go meet with the client go over the project they SEEM gung-ho and you go back, do your figuring call them with the quote, and they either say oh, I think I will hold off for now or say, great can you send it out. We type up the contract then never here from them. We will touch base after a week and leave a message to still get no answer. Do you feel it is either the old 3 quote thing or that the client is just unaware of the cost to make improvements? thanks Debby
